Our master purpose for every believer is that they become more and more like Christ. Our Bible teaching and preaching, worship experiences, small group activities, and discipleship training are all designed to encourage every member to achieve his/her maximum potential in Christlikeness.
We are a growing church.
We need every Christian who is willing to join with us to help in our work. The opportunities are far greater than our present manpower. You could help somewhere, somehow. We feel that we have an incredibly important task to accomplish and are not content to merely watch the world go by. We have four goals which permeate everything we do:

These four goals are the yardstick by which we measure every program here at Sellwood.

Of course, every church thinks that, and we know that we are not perfect in this area or any other. But many people have commented about this quality at Sellwood. We do think you will become a part of a loving family.
We are a family-focused ministry.
Our vision statement expresses it this way: "Sellwood Baptist Church seeks to carry out its mission here in the Sellwood/Moreland are of SE Portland by being a warm, caring church family, committed to ministering Christ's healing love to families of all kinds as well as to those who have no family of their own, providing a haven of hope, friendship, and acceptance in Jesus' name."
