Church Covenant

Having been led by the Spirit of God to receive Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord, and on the profession of our faith, having been baptized, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and accepting the Holy Scriptures as our rule of faith and practice, we do now in the presence of God, the angels, and those present, most solemnly and joyfully enter into agreement with this assembly as one body in Christ.

We agree, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of this congregation in Bible knowledge, spiritual growth, personal holiness, and mutual encouragement; to promote its spiritual health and vitality; to keep its worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrines; to contribute cheerfully and regularly to support the ministry and the expenses of this church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the Gospel throughout the world.

We also agree to seek to be faithful to maintain family and private devotions; to teach and model Christian living in our homes using God’s Word as final authority; to seek the salvation of the lost; to glorify God by walking carefully in the world, being honest in our dealings, faithful in our responsibilities, and setting a good example by our behavior; to avoid all bitterness, gossip, wrath, evil speaking, and excessive anger; to be mindful that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit, exercising care not to defile them with harmful substances or involve them in immoral practices and relationships.

We agree to watch over other Christians in brotherly love; to pray for them; to aid them in sickness and distress.  We further agree to cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling, and courtesy in speech; to be slow to take offense but quick to forgive, always ready to restore fellowship with a brother, being mindful of the rules of our Savior to do it without delay.

We moreover agree that when we leave this church we will, as soon as possible, unite with another Bible believing church where we can continue to carry out the spirit of this covenant and these same principles from God’s Word.
